EDUCATION HISTORY LABORATORY FOR PUBLIC LECTURE # 3 AND EXHIBITION OF LEARNING MEDIA

Public lecture is a routine agenda held annually by the History Education laboratory, Faculty of Social Sciences, Yogyakarta State University. This year's public lecture is different from the general lecture the previous year, because this year the public lecture was held in conjunction with learning media exhibition activities by students of history education 2017 which was held on May 10, 2019 at the IDB Building FIS UNY. This year's public lecture contained two sessions on the theme of Urban History and Modernization by Ilham Daeng Makkelo from the Department of History of the University of Hasanudin and Dua Putra Kauman: Collective Memory in Muhammadiyah and NU by Verena H. Meyer from the Department of Religion of Columbia University. At the public lecture # 3 and this year's learning media exhibition, around 200 participants came from both history education students and those from outside history education students, FIS UNY. Before entering the venue for the public lecture, participants are welcome to watch the learning media exhibition. Then, proceed to the first session which was shared by Ilham Daeng Makkelo starting at 13.00-15.00 which discussed the development of the city that had started since the early 20th century and had experienced very rapid development with the electoral complexity and the problems of the paper that emerged. Ilham Daeng also discussed the concept of modernity. According to Ilham Daeng, Modernity is a historical concept that becomes a reading tool in breaking down complexity in the existing time span. Modernity can also be said as an attempt to explain more variously the reality of urban history in Indonesia. After the first session was finished, then the second session was started at 3:00 to 17:00 in the same time by Verena H. Meyer who discussed the Two Kauman Sons: Collective Memory in Muhammadiyah and NU. After the public lecture was finished the participants were asked to rate the learning media that had been made by the 2017 History Education Student, Faculty of Social Sciences, UNY. There are several types of learning media, namely physical and video forms. An interesting learning media will be placed in the Historical Education Laboratory.
